Your Baby's First Tooth: What to Expect and When to Call Us

That tiny first tooth is a huge milestone — and it comes with a lot of questions. Here's everything you need to know to handle it like a pro.

When Does the First Tooth Usually Appear?

Most babies get their first tooth somewhere between 4 and 7 months, though every child is different. If your little one hits their first birthday without a tooth in sight, don't panic — but do give us a call so we can take a look.

Signs Your Baby Is Teething

Drooling more than usual, fussiness, chewing on everything in sight, and swollen gums are all classic signs that a tooth is on its way. A low-grade fever can sometimes accompany teething, but a high fever is not normal and should be checked by your pediatrician.

What to Do When That First Tooth Arrives

Once you spot that first little tooth, it's time to start brushing — gently, with a soft infant toothbrush and a tiny smear of fluoride toothpaste. It's also time to schedule your first visit to Honeymint! The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a dental visit within six months of the first tooth appearing, and no later than age one.

Why Early Visits Matter

Starting dental care early helps your child build a positive relationship with the dentist from day one. At Honeymint, we make first visits warm, fun, and completely stress-free — for both of you.

Ready to book your little one's first visit? We'd love to meet them.
